TOP9 harry potter characters: male

i was supposed to make this list right after the next movie comes out, but i don’t think i can wait that long. besides, i made a promise to post this entry as soon as i find a decent picture of bill weasley. if you’re interested, you can find my TOP9 list of female harry potter characters here - now edited with reasons why each character was chosen. here are my TOP9 male characters from the wizarding world of harry potter:
1. bill weasley
bill weasley, in my opinion, is the coolest character in the entire harry potter series: he’s got the brain of a scholar, the bravery of a true gryffindor, and the looks of a rockstar. only bill can pull off the fang earrings and dragon hide boots look without losing the respect of both his parents and his siblings. everybody loves him and he will always be number one to me. i actually cried when bill got attacked by greyback, but like fleur, i loved him even more because of his scars.
2. sirius black
sirius has always been the odd one in the black family: he is neither a pure-blood elitist nor a syltherin. what i like about him is that he never compromised himself or what he believed in just to fit in with them. plus, he is incredibly loyal. to quote what he said to peter during that confrontation inside the shrieking shack: “then you should have died! died rather than betray your friends, as we would have done for you!” say what you want about him, but sirius will always be my favorite marauder.
3. cedric diggory
the ladies love cedric diggory. i mean, who wouldn’t? he is tall and well-built. he has dark hair and dreamy grey eyes. he is a prefect and the captain of the quidditch team. what i like about cedric, however, is that he is actually a nice person. remember how he asked for a rematch after harry got fell of his broom because of the dementors? how about when he conceded that harry was really the deserving champion of the triwizard tournament after the chosen one saved his life? sigh. if only he didn’t touch that portkey…
4. remus lupin
the best defense against the dark arts teacher that harry has ever had, in my opinion, will always be remus lupin. i think all teachers should be like him: someone who teaches the important stuff, but still manages to make it fun. take his class about boggarts, for example. not only did he teach his students how to fight off the boggart, but he also taught them how to believe in themselves. case in point: neville longbottom. that boy never knew he had it in him until he saw snape wearing his grandmother’s clothes.
5. fred and george weasley
so yeah, i cheated. there are actually ten characters in this list, but i just can’t separate these two. out of all the characters in harry potter, fred and george weasley have given me the most laughs. ironically, they have also given me the most tears. of all the casualties in harry potter, fred was the one i cried for the most. i was sad that he had to die like that, but the fact that george never got over it really broke my heart. maybe i should prepare a bucket to cry on before i watch deathly hallows…
6. ron weasley
why do i like ron? let me count the ways: i like ron because he is funny. i like ron because, like me, he hates corned beef. i like ron because he is concerned about his sister’s lovelife. i like ron because he is protective of his family - even if they always make fun of him. i like ron because he is always ready to help his friends - even if it involves chance encounters with spiders. but most of all, i like ron because even if he loses his way sometimes, he always finds his way back.
7. kingsley shacklebolt
if lupin is the ideal teacher, then kingsley shacklebolt is the ideal law enforcer. as a master duellist, he is every death eater’s worst nightmare. kingsley’s amazing ability to fight off the bad guys, however, is not the main reason why i admire him. the thing i like most about kingsley is that he fights for the equality and welfare not only of wizards, but of other magical creatures and muggles as well. i’m pretty sure that he turned out to be one of the best ministers that the wizarding world has ever had.
8. firenze
the best thing about firenze is his righteousness. think about it: although it is considered a disgrace to his herd, he still saved harry potter’s life because it is the right thing to do. while this heroic act is considered an interference to fate by most centaurs, it is also a reminder that we still have the power to change the course of destiny - regardless of what the stars or the planets suggest.
9. albus dumbledore
they say that the smartest people are the dumbest when it comes to love, so i guess this applies to dumbledore. albus dumbledore is, arguably, the greatest wizard the world has ever known. he is admired for his incredible skills, his brilliant mind, his firm leadership, his whimsical humor, and his compassionate heart. although it is hard for us to imagine, dumbledore is not perfect. in fact, he is aware that the mistakes he makes are much bigger than most men… especially if they involve the people he cares about the most. to quote dumbledore himself: “did i know, in my heart of hearts, what gellert grindelwald was? i think i did, but i closed my eyes.”
